How about "coyote?" I agree - move up to "wolf" as they get larger.

Man Oh Man I can't believe I haven't seen this before....

H'okay here go some suggestions.

Canis Panther
If you read the characteristics of this versatile American breed you'll see why.

Boxer - cool dog, strong, fast, quiet, loyal. Short catchy easy to remember name.

I dunno about Pit Bull terror, it sounds a bit sensationalist.
 
Looks Great Tom and Dan , I think "The Shepard" would be a Fitting name for this Knife :) Pete

As someone in the marketing game, the naming thing can be tough!

My suggestion would be to keep it short and simple wherever possible.

Personally, I think 'Lobo' works well for this guy. Not a dog to be sure, but certainly part of the same family.
