first kershaw purchase....help!

One to avoid at all costs is The Blade Shop in Tennessee...there's a 9 or 10 page thread on them and their rip-off tactics.

New Graham is good, and I've also been successful (price, communication and shipping) with http://www.soonerstateknives.com and http://www.knifecenter.com out of Baltimore, MD.

For the love of Pete, DO NOT do any business with http://www.thebladeshop.com

gee SPXT, we would never guess that you didnt like thebladeshop ;)

budk is good (their prices are eh, but they will match the cheapest price you can find and take more off. handy considering it covers shipping in most cases)

thanks guys ...i went with ordering from the kershawstore....i got the little need work folder and one for my friend to test out.....i went with it because of the price and i have heard that the s30v is a pita to sharpen.....so i went with the 13c26.....we'll see how i like it....i'm sure i'll add another kershaw to my inventory after i play with this one.....thanks again for all the recommendations......ryan

Congrats on your new needs work ryan9977, I'm sure you'll find it quite useful.

ok so here's the update....got the box from the kershaw store today....looked a little light when i opened it......THEY ONLY SENT ONE FOLDER!!!!!!!!!!!....i had ordered two need work folders.....made a quick call to them and of course it says they delivered two...they said they'd look into it and get right back to me....i am not worried yet.....ohh by the way this thing came sharp as hell.....a quick question.....if i have it clipped on my pocket...is there a chance this thing is gonna fly open and kill me.....looks like it might....you definately need to practice opening it a few times....then it's super easy to open.....i can see this becoming a favorite everyday knife and definately getting another kershaw down the line.....maybe not from the kershaw store but we'll see if they turn up my other knife......ryan

Congrats on the purchase and sorry to hear about the shipping snafu. I have carried my Needs Work quite a bit as well as many other Speed Safe knives (safety off) and have never had one open in my pocket. One thing to remember, as giantsfan pointed out, is to never cary a Speed Safe knife clipped on your belt or on the outside of your pocket. Kershaw actually warns against this in the papers that come with the knives.

looks all good....the kershaw store just sent an email that they are sending out the 2nd knife......pretty fast response if u ask me......looks like they redeamed themselves......can't wait to start using it and put it to the stones.......ryan

Kershaw is pretty good that way. Its one of the reasons they are my favorite production company.

Colog, ryan was reffering to The Kershaw Store, they are not affiliated with Kai USA in any way.

Now I glad we are your favorite though.:D

when i close the blade on the folder sometimes there is like a clicking noise...is that normal...it doesn't happen all the time...ryan

just a quick update.....i recieved my other kershaw needs work folder today from thekershawstore.com ......i had called them...she said she would follow up and get back to me.....a prompt email less than 24 hours from when i called......another email to confirm they were shipping it.....and i recieved it much faster than the first....i can't tell if they paid for expedited shipping....but that's always great......so far so good for the kershaw store.....will definately buy another kershaw in th future....cool knives for a good price.....now i have to upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!....ryan....p.s.....i was in knife heaven today...not only did i get my folder...i got something else i was waiting for...an ed caffrey ebk...wharncliffe:D ....ryan

Yes, it is normal on some. I have a Leek that does it sometimes.... so no worries. Just remember, if something does go wrong with your Kershaw, they have a LIFETIME warranty on them and there CS is the best. Congrats on the new knife. Keep us up to date on how it's treating you.

my needs work is doing great....i am working on flattening the bevels.....i am taking the hollow grind out with my dmt xxc....it is slow going and my fingers hurt from sharpening but i am almost done.....i am gonna polish the whole side on my stones when i am done.....polished edge on a 8000 japanese water stone.....it's gonna be plenty sharp for me!.....ryan
