Nice job, Brother..Going trad bow hunting for deer in a few weeks I hope I should be as lucky

Nice shot Scott, Congrats.

Is that mini tusker in the pic and what handle material is that?

Nice Harvest!
Nothin like a freezer full of meat at the cost of a single bullet.

Good work,

Nicely done my friend.

Nothing like an early season doe to get the season started. :D

I would be very interested in knowing what knives YOU used on this deer.

The knife in your picture looks like the same size as I would select for field dressing, what knives did you choose for skinning and butchering?

Pictures would be great.

Nice shot Scott:thumbup:

Shot placement is damn near perfect for a muzzle loader @ 115 yards!!

That's some good meat you got there.

Thanks guys. Mike, that knife is 7 1/2" overall with a 3 1/2" blade. It's very similar to a Mini Tusker but with more of a drop point. This size up to a 4" blade is all I feel is needed for whitetail hunting. The saw is a Cabelas Outfitter saw. I highly recommend it. Awesome on wood and exceptional on bone. I skin with the same size knife. I've used one of my sharpened strikers in the past to skin an entire deer. Butchering I use a longer blade, 5" up to 8".
This pic is my gear. In my pack, range finder, latex gloves and Wet Ones, grunt call, first aid kit, saw, camera, 550 cord and deer drag line. Not shown are Steiner Safari 8x30 field glasses.

I hunt crop fields like this and kill deer every year. Some think I'm crazy, but I sit right smack out in the middle of these fields and shoot off a Harris bi-pod either sitting or prone. I was here this morning. They were finishing up cutting the field about 9:30 AM

My ML is a Knight Bighorn, 120 grains of Triple 7 powder and a 180 grain sabot. The bullet is similar to a Nosler ballistic tip.

That's an impressive hunting setup you got there!:thumbup:
