First kitchen knife.... Tell me what you think

I think it looks great!

Yes, the handle is a bit boxy and you don't need the curl/hook at the back end of the handle unless you had a camp-chef's knife in mind. For my hand size, I'd prefer 1 3/4-2 inch blade height at the heel for a kitchen knife and a bit less for a camp-chef's knife for a bit better control if used for shavings etc.
 
Great job on the knife. I like the overall design of it, and killer job on the high polish! But like every one said I would round the scales a little more and add some contour, but other than that it turned out great, nice work keep it up!:thumbup:
