I work in a steelyard and have been making this knife during my breaks the last couple days. I used a piece of an old bandsaw for the blade and some cedar dunnage for the handle.
how do you get a good sharp edge? I have a sharpening block set, but I just did a quick edge with a flapper disc right now. should I soak the handle in resin or something to make the wood harder? I like the way the wood looks, but I'm worried it might be too soft.

many of us use belts to sharpen, i start with belts and finish on stones. i do not think soaking in resin will make the handle harder.
