Hello, About a year ago I started my first knife I worked at it off and on up until about the end of may when school ended. When the semester ended for me my time to work on it sky rocketed, and I finished it, almost. the problem I am facing is I cant seem to get a good sharp edge on it. I made the blade out of 1/8" O1 tool steel, and had someone I know do the heat treating. does anyone have any advice for putting a good edge on a blade?

Cheap diamond sharpeners will do the job and won´t brake the bank.
Use a 20° angle per side.
I made a simple hardwood block at 20° to set the angle, make a few passes and re-set.
Either clamp the knife and move the sharpener or clamp the sharpener and move the knife. I use either technoque.
Strop after sharpening, that´s what makes it shaving sharp

Here´s how to get a 20° angle:

If the angle between blue and yellow is 90°(straight) and yellow is 3x longer then blue, the angle between red and yellow is 20°
(if yellow is 4x blue the angle is 15°)
