Hi Everyone,
Here is a new custom order I just finished.
It is also the first knife I have completed as a Journeyman. The 10" blade is forged from 1080 and 15N20 in six bar "Explosion" pattern damascus. The blade also has a slight "Sharks Fin" (that term came from a fellow forumite, Rob Connally) at the clip and a domed spine. The fittings are also "Explosion" pattern damascus. The liners are made of thirty two thousandths thick German Silver with Vine and Thorn Pattern File-work. The handle is of Premium Fossil Mammoth Ivory. The overall length is 15". This was the first I've done a six bar "Explosion" pattern on. I've done a Four bar a few times though.
This was also the first time I've done a handle a few thousandths larger than the fittings with the edge rolled over to allow for expansion of the mammoth ivory. I will be doing it like this from now on, unless someone wants it done the other way.
Something else that I did different, is that I made the handle a little thicker than I have been because I've had some input about my handles being a little thin. I like the feel of this one and if y'all think it looks good I will continue to make my handles a little thicker like on this knife.
Caleb had a hard time photographing this knife because the overall length. I think he still did a good job.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking and God bless.
