CHRIS fill us in on the steel and wood it looks like KOA but could be stained maple. your finish is excellent and sanded really nice. the polish excellent . I only see one flaw and that was my biggest problem is mosaic pin alignment. Dont worry I still have troubles but keep readjusting the pin as its drying in the epoxy. Overall really nice job a great working knife. kellyw

The knife is made from 440C Stainless and is 8" overall with a 4" blade. I worked through all the levels of micron belts down to a 5 and then buffed it out with green and the pink compound.

The handle is Madrone sanded to 800 grit and finished in Tung Oil and hand rubbed out.

The problem with the Mosaic pins was that I forgot to align them at all! I'll write that down in lessons learned...along with you can't grind out 120 grit scratches with a 220 grit belt. Thanks for pointing that out.

Chris I still forget pin alingment sometimes if its not to late you can heat the pin slightly and give it a slight twist. I know heat and epoxy is a no no but ide rather loose some strength than miss aline the pins. Most people never notice alignment just makers . I just bought one set of madrone scales pretty stuff .

If I ever forget the alignment again in the early stages I'll try that.

I bought about 20 different sets of scales in all kinds of wood types and I really liked the looks of the Madrone. I will definately use it again, it was easy to work with. The next knife I'm workig on is getting Iroko scales.
