first knife design

So far in my bladsmithing class we have been working with mild steel. This week we move to tool steel. I am thinking some thing like this. Since this is my first class I don't know much about guards, so it doesn't have one. It is like a throwing bowie in design. So if things go well it should look something like the picture. I am having a great time forging, and talking with my instructor.

I'm not sure of how a throwing bowie is supposed to look (never heard of them), but I don't really see anything that's wrong with that design. I personally do think that a bowie isn't a good first design though-you'll find that you will have hell refining the edge, but if you think you're up for it by all means go for it and good luck.
