First knife dilemma - Al Mar Ultralight Vs. HK14210

You said you bought the BM from an online store. Most of my knives are similarly purchased, however with my first purchase from a vendor I go to the phone. This gives me an idea of whom I am dealing with. Are they knowledgeable, helpful, friendly or otherwise? In the latter case I pass on the item. I don't hesitate to ask them to look over what they have in stock and hand select what they consider a particularly good example.

I have never been asked to pay for this service though I'm willing to do so. For a good number of years now I have never had to return a knife or been disappointed.

Be aware of Asian fakes. Another reason to know whom you are dealing with. Finally, while BM knives have a strong following I believe the Al Mar blades are superior production knifes. As a previous post indicated they are really two different patterns.

I've always had excellent results with AUS 8. As previously mentioned, more important than the steel is how it is prepared and treated in the production process. You will want a good experience with your knife purchase. It is unlikely you will be disappointed with the Al Mar.
