This is the knife from the older thread about nicholson files made in usa. Blade 4 5/8 inches, handle 4 1/2 inches, balance point at the forefinger in the grip, osage orange handle from a branch taken from a 5+ year old brush pile. Only 2 steps remain, boiled linseed oil coats till it cant take anymore and sanding to 2000 grit.

Last picture shows the golden yellows and honey browns of this branch on scrap sanded to 2000 which shifts with every movement in the light.

First pic 0123456789 did in hand.

contouring

What finished wood surface will look like

Only tools used were a 6 inch bench grinder, hand saw, borrowed wood rasp, and hand sandpaper so the blade is still rough with grind lines. I dont have a drill press to properly drill holes for pins, no belt sander, no dremel etc. Part time employed only so cant just go out and buy the stuff to do this properly.

Well I got the oil finally. 400 grit sandpaper 2 thin coats of BLO, 2000 grit sandpaper 2 more thin coats, and final rigorous buffing with soft cloth. Its almost neon yellow in sunlight just too bad that wont last. Flashes yellow, orange, and brown indoors even if there is a lamp nearby, or a window.
