Guys, I've been on the forum for awhile now, following the ability and progress of better men than I, and gaining enthusiasm and inspiration. The works of Andy Roy, Dylan Fletcher, Dan Koster, Rick Marchand, Matt Bailey, Tom Krein, RyanW, Sam Eddleman, Talfuchre, and many others have all been instrumental in causing me to spend quite a bit of money and time on knives, tools, and materials along the way!
The result so far is 4 completed knives, and 5 more off at heat treat!
My day job gets in the way, badly! I am, however, living the dream when I do get a chance to work on them. I don't anticipate setting myself up to sell knives very often, and will give most of them as gifts to friends and family - but at times I will have an extra or two and will put them up here. It would be nice if they helped pay for some of this expensive obsession of mine!
If you buy one, I would ask that you give me the benefit of your feedback as soon and as often as possible. I'm a newbie, so I'm sure that you folks will be able to provide much-needed constructive criticism.
All that having been said, here is my third knife and the first one ever to be listed. It is made of 1/8 thick 01 Tool steel from Metrics Unlimited, designed and ground to shape by me. The blank was heat treated to 56-58 at Peter's Heat Treat. I gave it a Marchand-style etch using blueing and bleach, and a Brown Canvas Micarta handle with Black Micarta pins and SS lanyard tube all attached with slow-set epoxy. The Scandi edge is at 12.5 degrees and taken to 220 grit with a light strop on cardboard, and the swedge is not sharp.
Overall length is 7.25 inches, and 3.5 inches from tip to scale. Blade profile is 1.62 from edge to spine, and handle belly is 1.25 from top to bottom. Handle scale width is .81 at it's thickest. It comes with a modest kydex rig - my abilities in that respect are improving....slowly! It's a clean, usable rig, good retention, with a large teklok that can be oriented for vertical or horizontal carry.
This one does not have a maker's mark of any kind, because I haven't figured out what it should be OR how it should be applied!
It will ship to you by Priority Mail, with Delivery Confirmation and payment by Paypal is preferred.
Price is $145 shipped.
Thanks for looking!
EDIT TO ADD:
Thanks, y'all! Here are a couple more pictures for clarity - the lighting at mid-day is just not all that great...shoulda taken pics at sunrise!
