Ok so this knife has alot of firsts for me. How did I do? Critiques welcome I wont get mad I would just like some outside opinions. My wife always says they look great! haha
And yes I did notice some slight gaps at the liners. Not sure what I did wrong there.

Side note: I would have used copper corbys but they were not long enough so I had these on hand.

Stats!

Steel: 1075
Blade length: 5" 7/16
OAL: 9" 3/4
Handle: Black Micarta with copper liners held with stainless corbys and copper lanyard tube.

Those liners are beautiful. I never see that. I'm not sure I'd have liked the idea on paper, but it really works here.

Love the profile and swedge.

Looks really nice. Copper Corby's would have been perfect, but the stainless aren't bad either.

Nice work.

Thank you guys for the compliments. I will order bigger copper corbys next time. I thought I had the right size.
I know what your mean Strigamort I really wanted green micarta but I just used what was on hand and came out not to shabby.

Nice one!!!!!!!!
Digging the blade shape and the handle. The liners are a nice touch
Certainly doesn't look like a first.
Ever thought of selling your work?

Thank you!

I have thought about selling, but I just want all the bugs worked out first. I will be a paying membership here very soon!

That looks fantastic! The only small (very small) critique I have is to maybe knock that hard angle off the front of the scales. It looks very abrupt from the top view. Outstanding job, I love it.

I agree on the drop off. I got to that point and kinda got lost on what I want to do. I want to and still can change it but was scared of ruining the whole thing. So left it blank so to speak for now.

Look at some Fiddleback Forge knives. Although usually more rounded at the shoulders, they may give you some ideas on how to deal with the forward area of your scales.

Btw, I just realized how short your ricosso is. Until someone mentioned it the other day I had never given it much thought. I really like how it looks on your knife. I believe I'll try something similar on my next.

I really like this one. Nice shape and proportions. What grit did you finish sanding the handle?

.

I finished it off at 2000 grit I always struggle to make canvas more polished look. I got close here but would like to do better next time. Thinking of trying paper micarta for a more clean look.

Thanks all so far for the kind words. Again please speak up if you see something I should tweak. I will look into fiddleback forge and see what they do on their shoulders.

You can oil or wax canvas micarta to make it shine. Or polish it on up but it tends to have spots where the material peeks out that don't polish.

Very nice design. Well proportioned, aesthetically pleasing, nice hamon and uniform finish. I also like the short ricasso. I'm placing it about the same way on the recurve EDC I'm doing now actually. Makes it look tight and functional to me...

I have done copper liners before and they are a bear to keep the unions between materials sharp and crisp. Even working it copper can tend to get out of shape. Rounding of the very edge can cause it to look gappy...

I like it. Good show!

Really like the scales. I have been liking the look of big tubes not just for lanyard but for entire handle. Just something I have been searching for lately. Big enough to slide a doubled over length of paracord through. Beautiful work overall I really dig the liners and the knife as a whole piece of I want one!
