that's actually really very nice. if I were you, I would use it and enjoy it. test it out, see what you feel like would make it better next time. if you haven't the time, I'm sure I know someone who would be willing to help you out.. lol [emoji38] great knife, man! [emoji4]

Thanks a lot I've been using it and abusing it haha. It's nice to see something that you've made hold up to some punishment.

Congrats on finishing your first! I think that's an exceptional looking knife. Keep going!

Nice work,

What do you have planned next?

The plan is to attempt a tanto neck knife. I also just got a forge and an anvil so might give that a try too.

Looks great for a first, I agree about the ricasso. That would bring the scale back enough to avoid that thin point of scale material by the index finger. It wouldn't take much for that to chip off.

A larger ricasso will also give you room to put "Jpthundernuts" which sounds hilarious, and awesome at the same time.

Haha thanks! I definitely agree I needed to leave more ricasso I sanded it all to 600 grit but then covered it up.

I think it looks really good especially for your first. What tools and equipment did you use on this first knife of yours.

Mostly Angle grinder and files. Used angle grinder for basic shape then used files to get it exactly how I wanted it. I used a gough jig to file the bevel. Heat treated with a atlas mini forge and tempered in a small oven at 425 degrees. Then lots of hand sanding to get a satin finish. Then a 1x42 belt sander was used for the profiling the handle.

Damn good start for a first knife! Hard to tell by the pic but it looks like the plunge only runs halfway back. On a full flat usually this runs further back towards the spine. It looks like you have a good grasp on the basics, now its just focus on fit and finish and getting those nice crisp lines.
