First knife??

Seems like one of the tweeners could possibly be appropriate. My 9 year old keeps a mora #1 around his neck quite often, especially if he has to go in a store or the library, or the #39 (3 3/8 blade w/ guards) on his belt. Both are kept razor sharp. Once he saw pics of BK 17 he started freaking out.

I got a BK10 for my son. So when ever he's old enough for his first knife that's what he'll get :D

A SAK would be nice. I think everyone who hasn't had a knife should start with a SAK or an equivalent fixed blade actually. The soft steel will teach him how to sharpen, and the less than perfect (though still good) F&F will get him to appreciate the more expensive knives he'll come across later on.

My first was a buck 110 but with this new craze about pocket clips Ive been thinking of buying a tenacious or paramilitary1 and just sitting it in my safe for a few years for when my son gets his first.

Plus the first time you fold it shut on your finger you learn a whole lot about safety! My first was a SAK Tinker I was 8 I still have my finger, and the scar.

I vote BK9!!:p Seriously though, get a SAK. My first knife was a SAK and I loved that thing, unfortunately I left it at a friends house and then we suddenly stopped visiting them.:(
