First Kukri - need a jungle brush clearer

Best of luck with your dog's surgery Karda.

Clearly I've underestimated the inevitable allure of the kukri in its many forms 0.o It seems like the 18" WWII is a good place to start for me at the moment. Thanks for the help everyone, I've emailed Yangdu asking about models in stock. Hopefully I'll place my order in the next few days. Will post pictures if possible :)

Thanks, but hopefully surgery will never be needed. Beanie Wiener is still doing well on meds and being careful.
I don't think you'll find toting an 18"-er around too cumbersome. I'm a bit shorter than yourself and old, but I'd still haul my 18"CAK anywhere.
Out of all the things to skimp on for pack weight, a good blade to cover your needs aint one.

what's the difference between a Sirupati and a Kobra? I think they would be the best, but idk what makes them different...

Typically the Kobra is a thinner, lighter weight blade more suitable for martial arts, while the Sirupati typically is suitable for everything except heavy chopping.

I say "typically," because these are hand-made blades and one might occasionally find a more robust Kobra or a slimmer Sirupati. If you buy a DOTD from this forum you can get a better idea about a particular blade by paying attention to the weight as well as the length. Yangdu usually includes both in the posted information.

For a lighter blade, look at the Sirupati, Gelbu Special and Chitlangi model's.

For a Heavy duty chopper, the 18" WWII or ASTK are really good. Same goes for the M43. All three models are based off Military blades. I own or have owned examples off all 3 and have used them both in the yard and in the field. They are good choppers that are still relatively packable.
