Long time since i posted anything. The black yarde forge is up and running. Almost every step of this operation is a first for me and its been a deeply humbeling experience.
@ghostman The core is Sandvik 15lm and the jacket is a construction steel (mild flat bar) from the hard ware supply that vas less than easy to work with. Will buy real mild steel from the local farrier next week.
Thanks! I think i spent about 12 hours on the blade, but a keen bladesmith could probably forge one in a fraction of that. That said it was best spent 12 hours off this summer.
