First Large Knife Suggestions Under $125

Someone said that they were able to find a Cold Steel Laredo bowie in SK5 for around $100. If you are looking for your first big knife, why screw around? Go with an old school big knife design that has worked for over 150 years.:D My other choice would be the Browning Crowell-Barker cutting comp knife.

If you'll look you can still find the Ontario Mark II for around $30.00.

USMC Kabar is all you need to know if you are just starting out.At less then $50 retail it is almost a use it and don't worry if you loose it item.I would bet more people started out with the old 7inch Kabar then any other knife.Does anybody know how many 7" Kabars have been sold outside the military? If count the military the number would be???

Please allow be to mess with your head.If I could go to 1962 when I was 21 and first starting to get interested in getting a "good knife" I would tell myself-Self don't get a good knife...Get A Great Knife! Enstead getting knife that you can afford today get one that forces you to save (a good habit) a few months or a year and get a Randall.Today,I would tell my grandchild to shop Randall's,Strider's,Busse's...etc

Justin, the owner of Ranger Knives, knows how to make a great knife for an exceedingly low price!

Also, I've heard nothing but good things about the Becker series of fixed blades, as well.

I've only had the chance to handle an Outcast once, but seeing J_Curd's attached image leaves no doubt in my mind that that is one big, bad piece of steel. I don't really think you can go wrong with any of these three in particular.

Oh, and one more thing. A knife with a 7-8 inch blade is not a "large" fixed blade. More like "medium" You folder and necker fans need to get out more! ;):D
