First Leather Stack Handled Firesteel - New ones added

Very nice work. Looks great. It would be nice to have some threaded insert in the handle and put threads on the rod of possible. When the rod wore out then unscrew and thread another in. Is that possible? I don't know how threading a ferro rod would work. I don't like spending so much time on something that is done for after it is used up.

That is great looking. You have gotten the stacked leather handle mastered. I need to get off my butt and redo my Cattaraugus Quartermaster knife. You may have given me the kick I needed. Did you take pics along the way? A tutorial would be great in Maint. Tink. and Embellishment.

great work on the steel, i always thought there was more work to make leather handles than appeared on the surface. side note to hushnel-- i bet the sheath cost more to make than the knife. dennis

Well the sheath was a quicker project, this blade I think I paid around $40 or $50 for the 01 Enzo blank, I didn't use a whole lot of the gator for the sheath. It's a close call though, if I was selling them the knife and sheath would be about the same price, the gator being the better mark up because of supply and demand :)

Oh and to bring this thread back on track, thanks Skog, your an inspiration brother. I started one for myself, about an hour ago, gotta love the rainy days, on occasion.

That looks very sharp. A steel like that would make a pretty little companion to a stacked leather fixed blade. Excellent work!

Skog you are a craftsman in every sense of the word. Nice job buddy. I really like the way that came out.

Java brown died
Super sheen waterproof finish

One on the top right is not a mistake but a "scar" in the leather that didn't take dye well. I kinda like the imperfection it brings out.
