On Thursday another batch of 200+ blocks came back from getting stabilized at K&G.
Some of you guys from the forum asked to be notified when I get new wood so they could have first look. That is the purpose of this thread. As I post more blocks in our web store I will post group photos of the new pieces here. This way I can avoid cluttering up the "For Sale" forum with a bunch of new threads. Even if you don't need any more handle material it can be fun to look at the photos.

This first batch is Oregon Maple Burl but it might be a little bit different than what you are used to seeing. What you normally see are maple burl blocks cut from the big burls that can form at the base of a maple tree. The ones in this batch were cut from side burls that can form higher up the trunk of the tree. These side burls are a lot smaller but will usually have tighter grouping of the pins and much more 3 dimensional figure.

The blocks below were cut from side burl caps like this.

The blocks are a bit less orange in person than this photo makes them look. But they do have an amber hue.
If you click on this photo it will take you to the website where you can look at more accurate photos of the individual blocks. Most of these are cut way oversized so they could be used for big sculpted fighter handles.

You are welcome to post any questions or comments here in this thread.
Or if you want, you can call. I am carrying my phone with me as I get more of the new stuff ready.

I just finished adding these.
The Sycamore has very unusual natural coloring.

Just added some good California Buckeye Burl and some real nice Koa.
The heirloom Koa came from a Native Hawaiian's Grandfather's stash. He inherited the wood when he passed away. He called me when he needed money and offered me some of his very best Koa.
