First Look to TSProf Kadet

I too would like to know when my Kadet will arrive. I may have ordered late, but in a chat with TSProf they said my order was set to ship in the first shipment out. I have not seen it. Webpage still says ship in May. Has anyone received a new kit direct from TSProf yet?
I actually got an email today from DHL, set to be delivered 5/17. I preordered 4/6...

Wow. Thanks for the reply. I actually checked my email (I used an address I don’t check often for the PayPal purchase) I actually got an email yesterday containing the DHL tracking number saying I should see mine today at noon! Still at work so hopefully there will be a package at the house!

Oddly enough I got an email from them telling me it had shipped, of course it had been sitting on my workbench for over a week by then :D

What's the recommended clamp for a small SAK or a steak knife? I'm wondering if I should grab one of the fillet clamps and/or the Tormek sm knife holder. I do have filet knives as well that need clamping. Might as well amass everything I'm going to need while I wait.
Icehawk, finally received mine after being stuck in DHL hub Cincinnati for 3 weeks. Just wondering what you came up with for your SAK. First knife I mounted to the Kadet, the width of the blade is too short, its a Queen, Ruple, trapper.
Apparently, the blade must have a minimum of 17mm (.667) blade protrude past the end of the milled clamps. your idea of using the Tormek small knife jig looks like about the only option. Kinda disappointed since I purchased the Kadet in part to handle some of my more expensive slip joints. Looks like i didn't do enough research. I think Gritomatic may have suggested the tsprof, small universal table, wow that's expensive.

KakBritva clamps on the Kadet works very well and has a much lower profile. The clamps are also really, really well priced.

I used mine a few days ago to sharpen my Victorinox SAK blades. For the standard Victorinox blade it clears the KakBritva clamps down to 13 degrees per side, and for the tiny backup Victorinox blade it clears the KakBritva clamps down to 20dps.

777Edge, sounds like a good recommendation for the
KakBritva clamps. Any idea where one would find a set. When do a search very little info available.

Sounds like Gritomatic will be selling them within the next month or so. I read about it in their updates for Bladeshow and it seems they will be selling the KakBritva aluminum clamps maybe even from this month on.

I received a customer email update where they also mentioned they will have a large range of "Gearconnect" adapters for clamps between systems, which means we will finally be able to use clamps from one system on other systems with the adapters.

Here are some photos of one of my SAK Victorinox knives clamped with KakBritva clamps. Photos of the main blade and clearance down to almost 13dps, and photos of the small backup blade.

I have the clamp mounted in my own Leading Edge sharpener with a bar I designed specifically for it, but the KakBritva clamps are easily mounted to the Kadet with the Gritomatic adapters.

Another pic of the small backup blade clamped in the KakBritva "side" clamp, mounted on my Leading Edge sharpener for reference:IMG-20210601-WA0022.jpg

777Edge, thanks for posting the images, clears up alot for me. When you say it clears the clamp your only talking a couple thousand. Even on the Kadet looks like the need for an adapter to connect securely. Been to your web page great info love it. Little over my head but was an eye opener. Guess right now I'll just concentrate on using the Kadet with the supplied clamps and abrasives. Start looking for more stones/abrasives and those KakBritva clamps. Thanks.

Yes, that's the lowest it can comfortably go while clamping the SAK blade properly and without touching the clamp anywhere when you sharpen. That being said, 13dps is pretty darn low. I wouldn't bother taking my SAK that low anyways.

If I remember, I'll take a photo of the lowest angle I can comfortably get with a Kadet clamp, and then another photo at the same angle with the KakBritva clamp and post them. That should give some good insight.

777Edge, after reading your post above I went and clamped up my Queen Bill Ruple, trapper and was able to successfully sharpen both blades at 20dps, used a feeler gauge and measure 20+ thousands clearance at the top of the clamp and the stone. Should have taken a picture didn't think. I have a Case/Bose Cattle knife I will eventually sharpen. It has blades the size of the SAK so, I know ill need the kakbritva clamps eventually. as far as stones definitely need something more the extra fine (1000) I recieved with the Tsprof set of diamond stones.

Here are some photos of the comparison of a KakBritva clamp and a Kadet clamp side by side, both clamping the same Victorinox SAK main blade. The first photo is of the clamp thickness side by side as mounted on my Kadet. You can see how much thinner the KakBritva clamp is.

The measured angle is 15 degrees per side for the photos. With the Kadet clamp, the clamp obstructs the sharpening by a lot - the stone gets nowhere near the blade at 15 dps. With the KakBritva clamp, you can see the stone sits on the blade nicely at 15dps and clears the clamp by a big margin.

Clamps side by side with the Victorinox blade clamped in both. See how much thicker the Kadet clamp (right side one) is:

Kadet clamp (rear one) obstructs the sharpening at 15dps. You can see the stone does not get anywhere near the blade:

Nice images. Definetly gotta get the KakBritva clamp.
I'd recommend the KakBritva "wide center" and the 2 "side" clamps, they should be cheap enough. Not a "must" but it's nice to have the option of center and both side clamps.

Where do you find the KakBritva center clamp that will fit a TSProf Kadet
Gritomatic is supposed to have them in stock, they mentioned June 2021 in previous public communication so it should be available soon.
