First Look! ZT 0180 Fixed Blade

Evidently Vanadis 4E is the same as CPM 4V. Almost as tough as 3V and has almost the edge retention of M390. According to Mike Stewart it has good corrosion resistance for a tool steel. Supposed to strongly resist chipping. Has the ability to take an extremely keen edge.
 
It is nice looking, but I'm not really overwhelmed. Looks kinda like a BK17 with a less ergonomic handle.

Puts on fire suit and ziiiiiiiips it up!
 
I like how it looks in the pictures. I can't wait until it comes out so I can check it out. I've been looking at the Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner, ESSE-4 & the tops B.O.B. . I'm going to have to wait for this one to come out to compare them. I like ZT's folders, but I haven't been interested in their fixed blades until this knife so we'll see.
 
I'll need this knife, I'm a fan of the ergos, and definitely the steel. Unlike many folks here, I enjoy "sharpened pry-bars" just fine.
 
Very nice looking knife there. I'll be looking forward to seeing information about how Vanadis 4 performs in the real world. There don't seem to be too many knives made from it, so I'm anxious to see what it can do.

ZT does have this, uhmm, tendency to OVERBUILD their knives. :D

And I'm stoked about both the design and the steel. Seems to me just about everything ZT touches turns to gold.
 
It's based off the Fieldtac. I think the original Fieldtac looks much better.

I'm a folder guy too ( I only have one fixed blade, a Busse) but this knife is calling me. It's worth snagging once they are released. ZT must be putting crack in their knives because I keep buying!
 
Finally released! Should have mine Sat! Just in time for my elk hunt so I can put it through some paces.
 
I wish/hope ZT will offer either a version with Kydex pants, or an optional Kydex sheath for it. Also, I wonder how it will compete with a Becker Companion, or even an ESEE 5 SERE, in terms of absurd toughness...
