First meeting USAF Recruiter

Spent 20 years in the USAF. If you decide to go in take everything that they will give you in training. Good luck.

Oh I'm def in. I 100% want to join.... If they let me. The only thing that would cause any problems would be my knee. It's all heals up from acl surgery but they might not like it anyways.

The Air Force is a great place to be, make sure it's what you want before you jump in though, and like HJD said above me, pay attention in training. I assume it's the same on the enlisted side, all that BS you get put through is there for a reason.

I am. Reserves actually.... But I will def pay attention.

Sorry, AFsc? Hey awesome man! Love it in Greenville.

n8swag,

AFSC is your job in the AirForce. I was a 2W271 when I got out. My recruiter was a nice guy, but he was full of crap. I recomend that if you haven't picked a job yet, you should consider something that you can use when you get out. I loved being a nuke troop and it was the time of my life. But after I got out 90% of what I was trained for in my AFSC was useless.

Anyway just some friendly advice. And thank you very much for your service. Best of luck.

BTW I was stationed in vegas for 8 years. Do your best to go there....

Oh gotcha! Depending on my asvab I want to do something logistics. My first choices would be emergency management or operations management. Thanks for the advice! I'm excited to join and serve. Looks like I'm heading to meps mid-feb and then I'll see what I get.

Went and scored a 61 on my pre asvab and got lots of paperwork.

I see you are in South Carolina, so what is wrong with joining the Marines? MCRD in Parris Island is just south of Beaufort about 3 hours from you.:D

Just kidding, I always try to pull recruits over to the Corps. Whatever you decide to do, good luck and Oorah.

I think he scored too high to get into the Marines:)

Oh, right in the ribs! When I went through Meps we all took the Asvab there and I thought I was top with a 93 until this oriental dude from NYC hit a 99 and crushed my short lived glory.

I scored well on the ASVAB, and my recruiter asked "Why aren't you going to college?" So, I did.:D

Two brothers went, both to Air Force, one did 8 years (4 in Japan), the other transfered to Air National Guard and finished out stateside. Both are working in their area of expertise, one IT for Wal-mart home office, the other airplane mechanic in Tulsa.

Good luck! And make sure you have some fun.

Been with the military since 1980. I enlisted in the Air Force at 17 and later got a commission into the Navy. I retired a few years ago and amazingly enough, I am back with the Air Force now in a civilian role but it has been an amazing 30+ years. I will echo the good advice given above and just add that I wish you the best of luck and thank you for your willingness to serve.

7 years active duty AF and 3 years active reserve...My 3 years in the reserves I worked 4-6 days a week,,plus my 1 weekend a month and had a blast...But,,I'd go active duty if you can,at least do a four year enlistment and then transfer into the reserves..It will fly by so fast and you will experience so much..I miss the AF just about every day..
CD

I would love to go active... Just can't with college.... But I found out I can transfer from reserves to active anytime! So I might do that later on. Looks like I would be on a 6 year enlistment.

I'll do my best! I was born in Japan actually.... If any of you want to follow my process I have a youtube channel named NateUSAFR that will have all the updates on it. Thankyou all for your replies! I enjoy hearing about your service. So far I haven't had one airman say he didn't like it or love it!
