first mini ritter grip and having second thoughts

my plan is to replace the scales in the near future from cuscadi that should fix the plasticy feeling

Does anyone know how long it takes cusacadi to send out the grips? I sent them a payment throuh paypal, they accepted it about three or four days later but I havent heard from them since. Just wondering what the turn around is? I'm giving them leway being in Germany and all. Lol

at least a few weeks unless they have stock of the scales you ordered

They said they had them in stock and I didnt need to send my knife. And I don't want to keep pestering them if this is just standard.

i would say 7-10 days since its overseas. You woill most likely get an email with ship info from what i hear Luke is a great guy and i trust the people here and their opinions

Yea, he was great to deal with. We discussed what I wanted in detail. I also really trust guys here since we all are after the same stuff. It's just the overseas that always makes me nervous. Thanks for the reassurance, I appreciate it.

I bought my first ritter grip and im having seconds before i even have it. Ive been reading about how the blade chips on medium use. And that benchmade lifesharps sucks(know this for a fact). Everytime i try and shapen ablade i ruin it. BREATHS IN TO A BAG. Can anyone tell if i should have got something else instead? btw it 95.00 shipped

Hyperventilation for a $95 case of buyer's remorse is much more managable than a $4 to $500 purchase if that's any comfort. :D

Edit: I've bought and sold 2 large Grips because of the bulbous empty handles. Don't you think if Benchmade ever slapped some flat g-10 on their Griptilians, they'd sell them out faster than they could make them?

have you heard specifically of the doug ritter s30v doing this? as far as i know the s30v in the ritter is crucible steel and very strong ritter made the knife for survival hard use i doubt hes going to pick bad steel just my opinion. only when s30v first came out years ago was there chipping issues i thought this was ironed out by the manufacturers as far as i know the ritter s30v is about as good a blade as you can get for the money and highly sought after ( i know i love it)

theres at least 2-3 people making custom scales for grips and mini grips wilkinsgrips cuscadi and another custom knife guy mentioned on these forums (name evades me atm)

wilkins is probably the most popular but cuscadi is definitely the best in quality and cheaper by about 40 dollars

Thanks furfmonkey and having followed the thread on the release of Doug's new Grips, I was able to see the cost which IMHO makes the knife ridiculously overpriced. Call them "pimped out" or whatever, but just too much total layout of cash for knife and aftermarket handle.

I was thinking - "why hasn't Benchmade addressed this one and only complaint about one of their most popular knives ever - and make a serious upturn of sales for the model in G-10?" :)

well yeah its a bit expensive ... but then again i have well over 100 folders...

that being said if you are on the hunt for your "perfect" edc sometimes you have to make it yourself and many people love the ritter blade shape and s30v with custom scales... i figure $175 for MY perfect edc with custom scales is a bargain if it will give me years and years of service and spare me from buying more knives i will eventually sell ...

better to have one "perfect" edc that costs a lil bit than 5 edc's that you are never truly satisfied with ....
