I decided to get a Mora Companion with the thinner carbon steel the other day. I got it off Amazon, shipped for under $12.00. So for that price, I thought I'd give it a try. I have to say it's a decent knife, I really like the steel on it and it came very sharp with a nice edge. I like the plastic sheath and the both are very light, I think it's the lightest knife I own.
I will admit that it was a bit small in my hand (average size hands) and the spine could have been finished. I ended up taking a file and some sandpaper to it because I thought it "deserved" that little extra, I'm not going to use any fire steel with it. I was originally thinking I'd keep it in my car or something but I felt it was a bit small for that. I do agree that it would be excellent for food prep, basic cutting tasks, etc. It would be so easy to clip onto your belt and use it on projects. In the end, I think I will keep it in my shop because I always need a good cutter for something and this will fit the bill nicely. I do like the knife and I feel it was a good value for the price. I just wanted to share my opinion since I do a lot of reading here and wanted to try to add something to the forums that might help somebody.

They're unbeatable for the money -- even for 2 or 3 times the money. I think you'll find you use a lot more than you expect.

I use them for deer field dressing. If you are a butthole reamer rather than a pelvic bone splitter, it is an extremely lightweight, cheap, capable all in one field dressing tool.

I love my Moras. I've kind of become addicted to them. Dave Canterbury did a video on making a dangler sheath for the standard plastic sheath. I'm thinking about doing that to make my Robust my EDC since I love the thing so much.

I keep a Mora Pro S in my bug out bag, for or if things get crazy and I need a blade. It's an awesome blade and can't beat their price! The plastic sheath is nice, just throw it in the dishwasher to clean. Mora makes goof stuff and they're easy on the wallet.

I've been thinking about getting a Mora Pro C. How thick is the blade on the Pro S? Is it Companion thin?

I would say it's a sturdier blade than the companion. I don't have one to compare it with. You really can't go wrong with the Pro series!

I'll have to look into it. I like the Robust but it's a but thick for EDC. I also don't really like the hump on the back. I might take that off. Wonderful knives.

I'm trying to convince my wife to get some Moras and a Roach belly for the kitchen instead of buying all new kitchen knives. The Mora Basic cuts better than any kitchen knife we own.
