Thought I'd share with you all.

The photo isn't very good, but I finished it at 22:30 last night and had to deliver it right then because the birthday boy (a friend's father) was leaving town at o'dark thirty.

Forged 1084, convex ground, osage orange scales with linseed oil - the recipient is a woodcarver and outdoorsman and is comfortable caring for the finish of the handle, and linseed oil lets the osage age properly. 5 and change blade. It's forged with a kind of partial integral, the tang is thinned down a bit to get the balance right in the middle of the choil, about where the front of the scales are. The blade was full body quenched and then I put a differential temper on.

I sure like making these, think I'm going to do some in mycarta or phenolic once I put an order in to shadetree.

Awesome Stuff~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

blade is about 5 to 5 1/2 depends on how you measure it, 9 3/4 OAL. goes from right near 3/16 thick to nothing (probably 3/32 right before the final point taper.

Very nice. The only thing, where's the para-cord wrap handle?:D

Looks great. I like how it is slightly different than the other ones I've seen. With every custom maker having their own interpretation, it's easier to justify buying one from each.

Your first attempt is a success.:thumbup::thumbup:

Well done and great looking blade. I personally like that fact that you used 1084 and differentially tempered it.

Looks great, nice work. I think your friends father will be very happy with that.

Thanks for all the comments!

I'm really glad it turned out this way, I feel like I've been working towards this shape a lot lately.

Oh yeah :)

Maybe not before christmas, depends on how fast current projects go, and I'm thinking about the merits of 5160. But definitely making more.

Once my wallet recovers from my current splurges, I'll have to add one to my growing Nessie family. :)

yah, timing may make this an after christmas thing for me, then again, I get a lot done some days.
