First Noob Injury

Bro 1: Hey bro, let me use your knife.

Bro 2: Sure bro!

Bro 1: Here's your knife back bro...

*Suddenly a flying Manix (blade open) appeared out of thin air*

Bro 2: Bro... Not cool bro...

I never feel a new knife is really mine until I cut myself with it.:D

Consecrated in thine own blood :D

I once sliced my thumb knuckle to tip pulling my brand new (at the time) ESEE Izula out of the sheath. I very quickly and painfully learned the wonders of paracord wrapping a knife handle... and checking that the blade is facing opposite my thumb when unsheathing it.

Back about 5+ years or so I just got myself a Schrade Viper OTF and maybe 2-3 weeks later I tried to cut a zip tie by pulling up through it, and it turned out as bad as your imagining.

The blade slipped off the zip tie and I ended up stabbing myself right through my bottom lip with the tip of the blade and hit a tooth. Luckily it wasn't too bad, so I just had to put pressure on it with a towel. Just glad I didn't stab myself in the eye, haha.

Thank you for not postinc pics of this one lol. Glad youre okay though.

Perhaps my dumbest was I had a knife (bk 14 ) strapped onto my pack sternum strap about 5 miles in on a loop and someone thought they would be funny and grabbed it and pulled it out of my sheath my first instinct through ma training was to block his hand and the knife was pulled right through my fist about half way through 3 fingers 14 stiches later I was sharpening my bk 14 about a month later and got a deep cut on my index finger..... wilderness remote first aid kicked in both times irrigate wound stop bleeding and in the first instance treat for shock.....

Permenate nerve damage in two fingers tingling effect when squeezing
I guess I just never learn haha

One time I I dropped a newly sharpened benchmade triage and went to grab it mid air and went full force ring finger to edge and the edge went all the way to bone! I didn't think I needed stitches long story short I did and but didn't get them so I now have permanent nerve damage on the front of my right ring finger so it hurts every time I hold a knife with a pocket clip on it.

I always wanted a hawk bill, but after seeing some of these wounds, I don't believe just a little love bite is possible from one.

Scary.

Getting cut happens to use knife guys, it is how you learn best. What model of grip did you buy?

Here's a small piece of advice my Dad left with me, son, a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one. He said, you'll have more respect for a sharp one and take less chances with it, than you would, with a dull one.
I'm not saying this is how you all got bit, It's just some good advice.

 I agree that any hooked knife is more tricky until you become familiarized . The Spyderco Civilian and the SE Cold Steel Black Talon ll are especially to be respected . The hook extends beyond the plane of conventional blade . Martial practice with unfamiliar blades can be bloody .

I have showed this one before, cutting open a box of plotter paper in the office severed the ligament. I was lucky and got a good surgeon back to a 100%. Always cut away from yourself.upload_2017-5-5_19-18-34.jpeg

Damn Blues... that's assault with a deadly weapon!

Every time i see your pic it reminds me of how I've never gotten used to Hawkbill blades and even after years of using them they still bite me from time to time, mostly when closing them without looking carefully

Ouch!
It's really quite interesting that I generally don't cut myself with my back lock knives. It's the frame and liner locks that always, always cut me. So I got rid of them all, lol.
