so i wanted to give Steve, over at buckeye engraving some props, he's a heck of a guy, and there service is very fast. only negative is the stamp is a little big, but well suited for larger knives. i think eventually I'll get a smaller one as well.

anyway i wanted to kinda show off the first blade to receive the stamp. the knife isn't done yet and i actually just slid all the pieces together to take the pic, so if it don't all line up perfect, thats cause it's just mocked up.

its a 13 1/2'' cable knife with an African mahogany handle. the guard and spacers, are 1018, and the recessed spacers are nickle silver. i still have to recess the upper spacer, but you get the idea. the final knife will have all the 1018 fittings gun blued, and the nickle silver mirror polished and file worked.

thanks and feel free to comment,
andrew takach

Do you use a press or just whack it with a hammer? Do you heat the blade? It does look good!

I first looked at the picture before reading your post and thought man he did not grind the blade yet and it's assembled, don't mess up. but then i read your post ;). i usley mark my blades after i grind the edge bevels as i never realy know for sure where they will end up starting. but the stamp looks good. now after heat treat you get the black oxide surface scale on the inside of your stamped letters and it will make it POP when the blade is finished. looks good

big smitty, no press so i guess im just a whacker.........lol

jt, yeah im hoping after etching that the mark stands out , i usually beadblast after i HT, but im not gonna on this knife.

thanks
