Here is my first for 2015. I spent most of December off of my feet. It was nice to get back in the shop. I still cannot spend as much time as I want but getting there slowly. Enough of that. When Lorien and I did the BingaLor flipper. I knew there would be a slightly smaller version. The original was 4" plus blade. I had enough of the original Damascus billet to make the smaller version. For those that followed along on the Wip you will recognize the similarities. The owner of BingaLor contacted me after he received the original asking if I would make a smaller version. He wanted to stay with Mammoth that was fairly close to the original. That presented a bit of a challenge. As we all know that quality of mammoth is really hard to find. Also a bit pricey when it is found. He was able to find these and sent to me. This has been a great project and a great way to start out the new year.

So we have BingaLor's Little brother.

Specs came out to blade length 3-1/4" closed 4-1/4"
Damascus blade and pocket clip from balance of the BingaLor billet.
Back spacer is from the same billet of twist that we used in the original as well.
Zirc bolsters and pivot screw.
3/16" Pivot pin with caged bearings
Gold anodized Ti liners and screws

Thanks for letting me be a part of this great community

any chance you might be at the Seattle show?
:)

Lorien, I will not be at the Seattle show, sorry. Had not planned to get photos on this one but I'm happy to send to Caleb if you want them for your book or display.

please don't go to any trouble on my account!
that being said, pro photos are never bad for the ole resume :)

Bing,

In my most humble opinion....:D....the clip is far too long....at least half an inch, if not a full inch.

The rest of the knife looks fabulous, but from a usage perspective, jimping on the blade spine forward of the bolster and behind the clip transition might be a nice feature.

Lastly, swedges never look bad unless it is on a Sheffield Bowie, lol.

Something to consider for the next versions.

Happy New Year and Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Thank you Steven, All taken into consideration. The clip is nicely radiused though it does not show in the pic. As for the jimping I may add that on a later piece. Though it would work on this design. Jimping does not appeal to me personally :D
As for the clip length. I will definitely shrorten in the future.

Thanks again for your valued input.

Jimping does not appeal to me personally :D

I'm not a huge fan of jimping either, but it certainly has its place- just not on this pattern. Same thing with the swedge. Not to say those things couldn't be added, but I made a conscious decision to exclude those features from this pattern when I developed it.

One thing I would change for future Bingalors, would be to move the plunge line back so that it lines up with the front of the flipper tab/bolster face, and radius it.
