In short, the customer wanted this knife with a modification. He wanted the hump cut off and the spine flat.

I had many firsts doing this knife:

- first on new (real) grinder
- first completely free hand
- first with my name etched (I go by centerfinger on all other forums)
- first antiqued finish
- first chainsawed ironwood slabs
- first blade over 4 inches

This is the result, it came out pretty good. Took way to much time, but It didn't matter I learned a ton. Sorry bout the crappy pics, I lost a light for my light box or maybe it was the beer.

The customer loved what I had done in bringing his vision to life and wanted a very "Lewis and Clarksih" look. A satisfied customer is what really counts, but your comments and feedback is always appreciated.

Specs:

1095 steel
3/16ths thick
11" oal
5.5" blade
5" slabs - decades aged ironwood root
0.75" at the widest point
flat grind
Brass pins
aged finish

Looks good, but maybe if you can find the light, it will look even better :p

Looks good, Rob. From what I can tell the grinds look great...did using the real grinder make a big difference for you?

It's still hard to tell since I'm just now getting used to it. The ability to slow down the grinder to a snails pace helped a lot, but it was slow.

Thanks all forl the other kind comments, for a simple design it sure was a PITA.
