First post, and a Question :]

Hey guys, I was cross-linked to this forum from ih8mud.com forums when asking about a general survival knife.
I read about general survival knife characteristics etc here and at the end of the article he had a list of knives that he would recommend. I have come down to two that I like, the SRK from Cold Steel and the S1 from Fallkniven. From what I can tell they are very, very similar, even to the point of me thinking one may be the 'lower end manufacturer' version of the other.
I would just buy the Fallkniven one if it weren't for the fact that I can't for the life of me find a way to buy directly through them.
Do any of you guys know the story on these two knives?

the two companies are in no way related, though the knives look similar.

the fallkniven is made in sweden, the cold steel most likely in china.

They are an EXTREMELY reputable company. I have dealt with them, I will do so again without hesitation.

I've never heard a bad word about them.

Both are good dealers. Most of us like to look to our own list of reliable dealers for which one has the best price at a given time. It may take a day or two to get recommendations, though. Everyone doesn't read every new post immediately.

I believe Fallkniven has their knives made in Japan, though.

That is correct. All Fallkniven knives are made in Japan.
