First Post - Buck 843 Sprint

Just because you have some toys doesn't mean you have the knowledge. My focus is on sharpening, and to learn the most I can on knives and steels. Glad to have found this place.

Just found this site the other day. I've been into Kitchen Knives (Japanese and 45 year old Chicago) and sharpening for quite a while. I want to pick up a few EDCs and have gotten a Buck 346 Vantage and am looking a getting a Buck 843 Sprint and looking for some feedback from some that might have one or knowledge about it. I used to carry a Buck 110 in my early days with the Forest Service now retired after 40 yrs.

I have the Micarta Buck Vantage Pro with 20CV. It's one of my favorite knives. However, I did bevel both the handle and the flipper edges to my preference. The deployment isn't as smooth as many other knives I own, and the pivot screw seems to be red Loctited in. I wish I bought two of them. I have no experience with the other versions.

An alternative that I tend to carry more often is the Benchmade Mini Presidio 2. Similar size, weight, and blade length (different blade profile). I've got the aluminum handle one but am thinking about picking up the plastic handled version too.
