First post here guys...I mainly hang out on badgerandblade.com. I just wanted to post here and say that even though you all don't know me you have influenced me greatly. I have been losing my love recently for the "tactical", "pocket clip" knives and have just fallen in love with traditionals. I've got quite a few Spydies that I have collected over the years (Lil' Temperance, Chinook II, VG-10 Spyderfly, some sprint runs) and they just weren't doing it for me any more. I said a long time ago I would never buy a Case because I have been burned in the past but I've got some pics for ya:

Welcome to are lil sub forum!
And hay if you don't like spydies any more I'll take them off your hands free of charge:p

Welcome to best traditionals spot on the web, very good people here!

After more than a few years of being a Case fan I recently received my first Case SBJ, same as yours, and I really like the pattern for many reasons. Congrats to ya sir!

Welcome. Boy! You know how to start in traditionals; the SBJ is probably the best made, most consistent product from Case. I have 2 jacks and a gent, including one just like yours. I was absolutely amazed by my SBJ when I got it and I still like it a lot. So much that I don't take it away from home much just to keep from losing it somewhere. I do carry and use it around the house and my office though cause it's just too good not to use.

My red pocket worn gent is not quite as good a build quality on the individual specimen that I have, but I carry it often as well and I will take it away from home on occasion.

Everybody here knows that my favorite Case knife is an amber bone mini copperhead. The build quality on it is just fair, nothing special. But the knife ambushes my pocket more often than any other.

Again, welcome to traditionals. This is the greatest bunch of knife knuts I've ever run across. It is, however, a dangerous place for your wallet. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.

I thought that I lurked for a long time before my first post, but in was nowhere near 7 years!

You definitely picked a great knife to show off as your first. They just nailed the design for this pattern with the smooth flowing lines. The extended spring on the pen blade is also a really nice touch. I honestly wish more patterns were offered with it.

Glad to have you here and hope to see you 'round more often.

Wow I did join in 2006!

Thanks so much everyone for all the kind compliments. Lovin' the swayback jack. It really is a gorgeous, well done knife.

I have found myself moving away from modern or "tacticals" and going to a more sheeple friendly main pocket knife along with a neck or belt knife of some sort. I am currently using my Becker BK14 and a CRKT minimalist wharnie for the neck knife role. With that combo I find myself wondering why I need a locking folder...not sure if I'll ever give up my lil' Temperance however!

Seen this numerous times. Can't figure it out for the life of me. Thanks for your help.

Case uses the CV tang stamp when their high carbon blade steel is used. From what I have read, Case's current "CV" steel is a 1085 high carbon steel with chromium and vanadium added.

Yup. With case you get either the CV (which is carbon steel) or their Stainless Steel. Most here seem to prefer the CV as it will patina and look like an old timey knife.

I'll join the chorus saying "Welcome!" and congratulating you on selecting a fine first Case.

I'll go ahead and add another welcome to the pile. This is a great forum with greater people. Pull up a chair.

Carl.
