Here is an example that seems about closest to what you've made here. This grossmesser was purportedly from the 1490's. Still several important differences, but I think it shows your idea wasn't totally out in space. :)

DRider, when I ask for critique I mean it, I am not one to suddenly take offense with a differing opinion or different understanding. I make no claims to understand much of anything hehe, so I highly appreciate any constructive criticism and tips and opinions and that's exactly what you gave me, thanks! You are right, the handle is less wide at the butt end and it does cause some slippage (which the protruding little bit of the pommel stops), but I should have applied what I know from making hammers and handling them to the sword.

Possum, that is an excellent picture! Maybe I was channeling my past life as a 1490's swordmaker hehe.
 
im not a sword peson too much, my impression is that i would love to take a few swings with it. it reminds of a sword robin hood would use except not as big. thanks for sahring
