Soaking it in the vinegar can't hurt, if you have a brass cup brush for a drill you can get the little bit of nasty rust out, or you can take and sand around the TT stamp. The vinegar in and of itself won't fade the marking, and might even make it a bit more evident. If you sand etc. just make sure to keep away from the stamp! A fine axe for the price.
 
I appreciate the info, I'll let it soak another day as some of that rust is still thick in spots. Once I get her cleaned up good and sharp I'll do my first hanging. I hear Council offers good wood? Any better suppliers out there?
