First off I would like to say what an enormous wealth of knowledge this site contains, and thanks to all that contribute ;0) this site helped me on the fast track to making my first knives a success!
Its funny how things get started, in January of this year I was out hunting bunnies with my youngest son and I found a spike horn left side drop, and thought to myself that would make a nice knife handle, when I got home I started looking for a blank blade, and it was all down hill from there, propane tank forge, self built 2x72 grinder, junk yard anvil, a few other odds and ends and I am hooked ;0)
The first two knives are from old files and the 2nd two are from a leaf spring (74 Chevy motor-home) oil quenched and tempered with a torch, the files I had to draw to a powder blue before they stopped chipping on brass, and the spring knives seem just fine pulled to a light straw
feel free to post observations...good or bad ;0)
