First post of my work online.

Hey, that's a dang fine blade! Wish my fourth looked that good.

What grind is on it? By the pictures it looks like a convex grind, but I can't quite tell.

I agree with the advice on the handle shape, but I've got a question for you, Mr. Hull:

It makes sense to taper the handle down to the size of the spine a little bit, but then with a guard won't that look strange, butting up to the guard like that? Maybe I'm not completely understanding the advice. The main reason I'm asking is because I haven't yet attempted putting a guard on, and am thinking about trying one soon. Do you possibly have a picture of the reccomended way to do it?

Thanks!

Nice sheath too. Looks like they taught you well!

I am not able to post photos here. It is only one of 1000 opinions and it is rough but I think you would be supprised and pleased with how your blade looks.

Send 'em to me and I can post them here. I'd like to see what they look like.

Like I said, I wasn't entirely happy with the handle on this one...but I was working to a shape from something else (that was kind of shaped this way, but had a carved spacer that was a little smaller) and was pretty short on time (I did the handle shaping the day before the competition and finished it the morning of). I've got some ideas for next time, but I need to get some scraps to practice some carving on...

It's just flat ground. I've been having some trouble keeping the grinds even on both sides, but I got a lot better with this blade.

Nice sheath too. Looks like they taught you well!

Thanks! I'd say at this point that he instructed me well...We'll find out how well he TAUGHT me when I try to do another one on my own :)

I have tried to send the picture to you via the email link in your profile but I could not attach it. Fair enough too. So what you can do is send me a private email and I will be able to attach it to that.

Keep in mind it is not a professional photo shop job and is just one quick version. Also your handle is well done and I don't want to sound like a mongrel dog, part of a pack pulling you to bits. It is a great effort.

And just incase I have not missed the boat, feel free to send it to me I will give it a good home.

Stay happy keep them comming.

Jaegar,

I am a hobby maker Mr HULL is way above my level. However I have the next 2 weeks off work so if you have a sketch of your blade or a photo of the blade sitting on paper with a handle drawn on I can photo shop it also.
I have a big problem deciding on a handle myself but when I see someone elses I can normally see the lines that it could take to make it straight to the eye. As you can see I am a visual person I can't explain in words to save my life.

No garentee what it will come out like but I am happy tp have a go for you.
