First post/question about HI Villagers

Ouch. Just ouch. That is all I remember about these stupid trees. I ran into one once when I was in the field in Honduras, literally ran into it. And yes. those damn spikes are as sharp as they look. I definately would not put one in my yard unless I was feeling particularly sadistic. Then I might just so the neighbor kids who play football and baseball next door would have fun trying to keep from running into it :D

They are pretty to look at but ugly to touch. The leaves, more like blades are very inflexible, no give to them at all. I have to mow around mine but I do so on high alert and with great care.

I have a old fir tree and other stuff growing out of a big ole stump. The monkey was planted around that and the fir tree has grown so large it pretty much blocks the view of the monkey tree from the house. I'd like to clear the area out, but so far the wife isn't totally on board with the idea. Translated that pretty much means it ain't gonna happen.

Just tell her it was collateral damage. You thought you had your KLVUK that day but accidentally picked up your 25" Siru! They're the same color;)

used to work on a street in swindon, UK that had been lined with monkey puzzle trees, they were about 30ft. tall. those leaves were designed to dissuade apatosaur dinosaurs (used to be called brontosaurs) from nibbling on them, they are as stiff and pointy and dangerous as they look. you do not want a branch falling on you. the cured wood is hard as nails and nicely figured and a favourite for carvers.

Wow, hollowdweller sure seems like the guy to go to for any "hard use" khukuri advice and tips.
