A person I know approached me about a week ago and said he'd heard that I was making knives and asked me a few questions and what-not. After I showed him a knife that I happened to have he said he wanted one and how much...

so, this is the one I made for him

1095, forged, tapered tang
bocote handle, hidden pins, bees wax/carnauba wax finish
OAL 8.5", tip to scale; 4 5/8"
Mostly machine finished w/hand scotchbrite rub

I've been putting it through some tests so there are some scratches that I have to polish out but otherwise it's done and I have to build a sheath for it today.

feel free to critique if you like.

I know, I know... PINS :) I kinda like the no pin look.

I sold my first last week. I was nervous as a newlywed until I got an email that it was recieved and the customer was thrilled. I always do the best work I am able, but having money on the line gives a little weight to natural insecurity. Did you do hidden pins, or just epoxy?

Very Nice indeed. I hope the recipient knows he has a potential collectors goldmine. Sure hope it doesn't wind up in the bottom of a wet tackle box. A maker's first sale is special - and yours shows good promise.

Rob!

Thanks, guys.

While I can't imagine my knives being collectible, I do hope it doesn't sit in the bottom of a tackle box doing nothing either.

Cool looking piece bro! Congrats on the sale.

Sweet knife! I love the hidden pin look also. The last thing I want to do is drill holes all the way through a sweet piece of wood. I noticed you did not flip the scales to bookmatch the outside, rather let the grain match across the top and bottom of the handle. Nice job lining that up.
