hey folks.. here's some pics of the first scandi style sheath, i have made.. i have been wanting to try one for a long time.. it was made for a Roselli Carpenter knife..
i was anticipating making a new sheath for this knife, when i got it, the sheath it came with didn't do it for me..i did quite a bit of research on different style/looking sheaths and decided to with a more basic design.. i got the knife on monday of last week and finished this up on thursday..

i used 10-11 oz. veg. tanned leather, wet formed and then dyed with Fiebings medium brown dye.. i finished it off with some bees wax.. i used some thinner veg tanned leather i had for the belt loop..i didn't put a liner in this one, i think i'll try that next time..

i took a few work in progress pics..

getting ready to dye it, after being wet formed..

and the finished product.. i am pretty happy with it.. it's simple..

the back stitching wasn't as hard as i expected..

life has been pretty crazy for the past few months.. leatherwork always seems to relax me, and i haven't been doing nearly as much of it as i should be doing..

thanks for looking..

Nice work. :) That thick of leather is a real bear to wet form eh? I usually use 7/8 ounce to do scandi style sheaths, and its still maddening,

I love the Roselli knives, I have what appears to be the "Hunter" its been so long that I cant remember. Its got that "Ultra Hard" carbon steel, good stuff.

Looking hard at the Grandfather's knife.
