It was my first try. I nocked the tip off by accident.... oh well. Anyone have any hints on restoring the tip to closer to its original "shape?"

Thanks for looking and helping!

Kevin

P.S. it is really sharp!

you can just reshape it with some sandpaper or a sharpening stone. ive done that on other knives, and it works well.

I never sharpen all the way to the tip until all the rest of the blade is done. I then use a Sharpie to blacken the edge including the tip. I then make a few light passes up to the tip till all the Sharpie black is gone. Since the blade is thinner at the tip you need less force (fewer passes with your hone) to get it sharp and won't have to worry about rounding off the tip...

Here is a better picture of the tip to help visualization. Although I have been known to round of tips this time it was mainly due to the fact that I went off the end of the tip and when I carelessy pulled the stone back I nicked off the tip. I have been much more carefull since!

I am ok with the tip it has now. It seems stronger, although the old tip was nice for picking out splinters and glass and such.

Thanks again for the wonderfull contributions.

Oh no fuss at all. I just want to learn more:)

I think it looks just fine as well especially being my first time using an edgepro.

Thanks

I'd send it back to CR to get the edge straight again.

I did not think it is not straight (just not as pointy)? Thanks for the advice but I like to learn to do things for myself if I can.

Thanks

Kevin

P.S. it has been working just fine anyhow

I bought one for my brother when I gave him a sebenza. I have personally never liked those type of systems. I could never get used to them.

I have always used flat stones. My buddy on the other hand loves his sharpmaker but can not sharpen on a flat stone to save his life (go figure.)

I think the edge an edgepro can make would be hard to beat. It takes ALL of the guesswork out of holding the angle as consistent as possible.

I guess what I am trying to say is I am more than satisfied with my sharpening options.

Thanks again

Kevin

i was never able to get a the edge i wanted with the sharpmaker on my sebenzas.

probably the convex grind.
