First Sebenza....now the Collection Begins

Yah......I did just after I posted that, but not before my confirmation bias was noticed....LOLOL. Tuice....

AMAZING story behind it, and of course an Amazing collection!

Haha. BTW, I just fixed some of the pics in that thread.

Great pics.

Well, it looks like I'm pretty well decided that my second Sebenza will be a Small Seb 21 "Think Twice Code". I haven't handled a small Seb yet, so I think this will be very interesting...so far, all my knives are "users"; this one may actually get more EDC time than my large Seb 21, as it's less scary than my large Sebenza.

Anyway, after this one, I'm looking at inlays.....and something fairly unique if I can find one. I do like the Red Micarta Exclusive at KnivesShipFree......

Yep the red linen micarta is a beautiful knife for sure. I myself went from none to 3 in less then one month. They are definitely a cut above the rest.

Yes, the Red Linen Micarta is great. I'm currently looking at either that, the Bog Oak (Morta) inlay or the Gabon Ebony. I'm wondering if it's too late to put in an order for the Large Sebenza 31 Lunar Landing as well (assuming I don't need to actually cough up the money until it ships??). I sent them an email, but it's Saturday and they won't get it before Monday....pretty close to the end of the year. Still time to order?

As far as I know the lunar landing 31 is still available to order direct, I could be wrong tho. And no they don’t take payment until it’s time to ship the knife to you. I’ve never seen or handled a bog oak in person.

Looks like that link is marked "Withdrawn" at this point. Just got back to the forums after the holiday festivities.

I emailed CRK on 12/30/2019 and Kayla got back to me to let me know that I still had until the stroke of New Year's Day to order the Lunar Landing CG. At that point, having watched all of the missions religiously live and in person from Mercury thru Apollo, I couldn't resist, and placed an order for a Large Seb 31 Lunar Landing, with double-sided blue thumb lugs, Buckey Blue lanyard with a Dot Bead (The blue reminds me of the blue PLSS Hose attachment on the EVA suit). Now the 9-12M wait begins.

In the mean time, I'm going to order a Small Seb 21, now vacillating between Gabon Ebony Inlay, Bog Oak Inlay, or the above-mentioned Think Twice Code version My all morse code amateur radio brain is pushing me toward that Think Twice.......Of course it won't be my last Sebenza, so is it really a choice? LOL

As luck would have it, I've been agonizing over which small seb 21 to choose...as you see above, I had a few models to choose from. But I keep getting pulled over to the KnivesShipFree Red Red Linen Micarta Exclusive. I mean, I love all of them, but for some reason, that one seems most interesting. I don't have any knives with Micarta scales, so that would be a first as well. I think it's between the Bog Oak, Gabon Ebony and the Micarta for now....going to decide and purchase today. Any final recommendation before I pull the infamous trigger?

I want them all. Lol have the red linen micarta and love it. The ebony is beautiful as is the bog wood. Both are hard to find in a lefty I think you'll love any of the three. Just don't put it on the safe shelf. They look the best in the pocket and being used regularly.
Cheers.

No question about it being a "user". My Large 21 Insingo is an EDC, and the only one I'd put away for occaisional carry would be the Lunar Landing 31 that I ordered on 12/30/2019. That one should be arriving in September, according to Kayla at CRK.

Leaning toward the micarta.

I’m kinda partial to red linen myself. Micarta makes for a great worker. The blasted handles can be redone if you’d like to down the road as well. The stonewashed blade can also be re-tumbled. I own a red Inkosi and it’s one of my most used and worked knives. I got a Gabon ebony a few months back. I really like it but it’s not a worker for me. It’s gets carried but only for off work things. All depends on the use for me
