First Sebenza: Observations and a Question

Congrats on the nice knife.

You got lucky with the "no Idaho stamp" - Maybe they have finally decided to get rid of what could possibly be the ugliest and most ill conceived stamp that CRK have come up with?

Given the place you got it from, I wouldn't worry about it being a non authentic item. You just got lucky!

Quick update:

As mentioned, I fired off an email to CRK last night and got a prompt response this morning in the form of a question from them.

The wanted to know the numbers inside the scale, B10 by the way if that means any thing to any one, and since I didn't have the knife with me today, I responded when I got home. They didn't get me any other information.

I'll update again when I hear back from them either later today or tomorrow.

B10 means that the scales were produced at some point in 2010 (I guess they don't sell too many lefties) which would explain the lack of a stamp. A keeper!

As mentioned earlier in the thread ... the birth date is the date on which final assembly took place (using existing parts obviously).

Wow. Hard to believe the scales sat around for a couple of years or more before being used.

CRK seems to offer a fair share of lefty runs, or, in the very least, there just happens to be a hell of a lot of lefties that hang out here.

Don't worry keep them sharp and won't hurt; you would realize it bit you when you see some red drops all over the place hahaha ;)

Update from CRK:

Heather confirmed that the scales were made prior to the infamous Idaho Made stampings.

Mystery solved.

Tomorrow will be the first day for carry for the Sebenza!

Crazy! Sometimes us lefties do get lucky. I have a small lefty that I'm picking up from the post office tomorrow morning from BladeHQ. I'll report back, if it doesn't have the stamp.

SMI - I would be shocked if yours has the Idaho Made stamp. I believe another guy in this thread just picked up his lefty and it was without the Idaho stamp too. Looks like CRK is pumping out a batch of lefties using some pre Idaho scales from 2010.

On a side note, it took me exactly one day of carry for my Sebenza to get first blood.... Mine of course. Started screwing around with it on a conference call. Nothing bad, but a knife isn't mine till I spill a little blood with it.

Bahhh, B11 on my scales................. Idaho Made. I knew I should have purchased that Seb a week earlier ;)

Mine was assembled just a day later than yours 2/14/2013. I bet mine was the first produced out of the batch with the IM stamp lol.

Damn.... I am glad I ordered when I did. I saw that second lefty go up on Blade HQ right after I ordered mine. Either way SMI, enjoy that knife. I am really glad I bought mine although I am still a,aged I dropped $350 on a pocket knife....:)

I just checked out my large lefty with the Idaho stamp. It has a birthday from February last year and the scales say A 11, so I'm guessing they were made in 2011. That's a very nice score to find a new one without the stamp!
