Hello WSS,

I posted in the makers forum, You guys in the WSS have been helpful to me and I wanted to post this here as well.

I have been hanging around about 15 months now. I have learned a lot, built about 25 or so knives and sold almost as many. It has been my desire to create a line of knives that could be used for general purpose cutlery needs, bush whacking, camp, hunt, survival, LEO, military, I really admire the RAT guys (and several other lines) for their share of this space with great products.

So, here goes, my first try, I call this series the MP Series. Not very original but, I like it. It stands for multi-purpose. There are three sizes, small, medium and large. So I will have the MPS, the MPM, and the MPX.

Specifications:

Steel: 1095 (on this round) Professionally hardened to Rc 58-59, triple tempered, and Cryogenically treated to Negative 300 Celsius.
Handles - on these three - black canvas Micarta, attached with McMasters black oxide coated screws and stand offs.
Sheaths - Spec Ops Survival Sheath on the MPX, Kydex with Tek Lok on the MPM and MPS (to be made.)
Grind: Full Flat from Spine to edge

Dimensions:

1) MPX - OAL at 11 1/4, cutting edge at 5 1/4, 6 inches from scales to tip. Cut our of 3/16 stock.
2) MPM - OAL at 9 3/4, cutting edge at 4 1/4, 4 7/8 from scales to tip. Cut out of 5/32 stock.
3) MPS - OAL at 7 1/4, cutting edge at 3 1/4, 3 5/8 from scales to tip. Cut from 1/8 stock.

Other:

1) I do have the Large and Medium sizes profiled WITHOUT choils as well, for you none choil lovers:)
2) I can make sheaths from leather and kydex, the spec ops sheath is an option for the large until they run out.
3) My first run is 42 total out of 1095. I do plan on runs of A2 and 154CM during the summer, if things go well!
4) I can use wood, G10, or micarta on the handles as well as screws, corby rivets or pins.
5) I can also make handle matching ferro rods. I have these in stock, they will be made on request.
6) I just purchased a powder coating system, this is also an option. I have flat back and "wrinkle" black- both in house.

One more quick note, I used 3/16 micarta, so these three have a slim(er) profile them most of my other knives. However, I left it think and only contoured the edges, they are comfortable to handle.

I will also be finishing an MPX with black powder coat, black/tan G10 and a Spec Ops Combat Master Sheath in the net two weeks for a Operative in Iraq, I can't wait to post pics of it.

Let me know if anyone has any questions!

Regards and thanks for looking.

John Landi

Dang, you're killing me John! They all look perfect. That basic design in the three sizes covers it all too. Very nice work.

Wow those look nice indeed! And a knife with choice of choil or no, outstanding!

That's a great lineup, some very good looking work. Those look like real users! The pictures were also just what I would have asked for, in-hand pics are way too often neglected by sellers/makers.

What price range are you looking at for those?

Those will sell very well. Great sizes, great blade shape, great grinds, just great. I would say make the grips a bit fatter and contour them a bit, but other than that those looks like a great do-it-all type design.

OH YEAH!!!! John Ill take 1 of each. And a powder coat option...NICE!!!! Watch out knife world LANDI knives are coming!!!

"It has been my desire to create a line of knives that could be used for general purpose cutlery needs, bush whacking, camp, hunt, survival, LEO, military..."

I don't see how you could go wrong with these designs. Good vision.

wow. john. those all look great... that blade design is right on for multi-purpose use... nice job there....

that MPS looks like a handy little knife...

i actually wouldn't mind having one of each too...:D looks like i might have to sell off a few more to pick up some of your blades john...:o

Thanks Mike,

I am waiting on 3/16 pins to start on those PSK's, also!

they look great, would like to see some large ones (7-10in blade).
I really like that medium size for a all around camp or bush craft blade.

Excellent looking knives. You really put a lot of thought into all the different characteristics - steel, thickness varying with knife size, choil / no choil. The mircata handles look first rate as well.

You should do well with this group!

I have John's Convex Utility and simply put it's a great knife, heft, balance and SUPER SHARP. A great all around knife, great knives at great prices!!!

Hey guys, wow, thanks for all of the kind words.

Paul, I am really happy you like that knife, I is a seriously "stout" blade!
