What did you use to get the antique pattern on the leather? Did you dab the dye with a cloth or sponge? It looks really nice and adds to the overall "package" of knife and sheath.
Is it just me or is the pic really blurry? Looks great from what I can tell. Really like the finish. I'm actually beginning to enjoy sheath work. As a matter of fact, I'm sewing two tonight! Used to hate it, but as was already said, it's getting easier...
Matt
That's a really sexy looking sheath. I love the cut. I love the color. How did you do that? Some of the tooling looks a little off in the upper area of the sheath. That definitly wouldn't stop me from wanting it. Really sexy.
hey guys. thanks for all the comments... except for matt and keith.
my knives only come in small medium and extra medium
i used the fielbings antique leather stain then wiped it down with fiebings leather balm with atom wax.... kind of took away the smooth finish and melted away to the finish you see here. i like it. i used a wool dauber for the stain then a scrap piece of sheep skin to apply the balm. don't know if that's the right way to do it but i worked alright.
i'm stitching everything by hand, with the two needle method, drilling out the leather first the having at it. worked out pretty good.
yeah i usedto fear sheath making... all gone now.
i'm still no dan gray but it'll do for now.
doyle: i'm using shabby lighting so my camera settings are way off, pretty blurry. i blame it on paul's crappy lighting
thanks again guys i'm glad you all liked it. now i need to get my butt in the shop. i have to finish a knife for danbo
