I'm going to make some slip joint knives from old patterns I have from my father's shop. They were made carbon steels. What would be a good steel to use today? I'm leaning toward O1 mainly because I use a local heat treater who has a great reputation and specializes in small runs. Thanks.

01 will work fine for slipjoint folders, I keep it on hand for every now and then when
someone orders one in carbon steel. 01 makes a good knife.
Ken.
