First Slipjoint

That is a good point, You can whip it out and show them your goods!! You guys have dirty minds!

I am talking about how awesome it will be to have a sample to show people all the time.

It's finished!! Words can't describe how happy I am with the way this one turned out. Despite all its flaws (and there are quite a few) I am really pleased with the end product. I also figured out what I can do with the scales that I had to replace. I have been interested in trying some scrimshaw so I will be able to use them to practice on.

A few people have asked how I designed it so I will try to put together a tutorial for my website http://knives.mutantdiscovery.com. I'll post back in this thread once it is up there. If you are attending the Canberra Knife Show you'll be able to check it out in person.

First the vitals and then onto the pictures.

Wow......that came together so nice. I can hardly wait to start one of my own. I hope you don't mind if my first is very similar to yours? I've read multiple books on folders and I have to say, with watching your's come together step by step, I understand it so much better now. Thank you and look forward to seeing more from you!

Just out of interest how much would people expect to pay for a knife similar to this? I am thinking of do a couple more with the same pattern before I do something with a bit of a different pattern.

I started by handing out knives to my friends, there are some long term issued that need to be resolved. \\

Will the spring temper hold up and the snap of the blades.
Will handles stay in place
how long will it stay sharp.
what to other people (potential customers) think of the overall knife?

I gave away quite a few before I started selling, It was worth it to get feedback and make a friend for life. I would say my folders are on the bottom of the price chart and do not have any problem selling as many as I can make. You can see prices on my web site.

Ok I have put together a bit of a brain dump tutorial on how I designed my knife. I will do a bit more of a proof read and fix up later on but thought it would be good to get any feedback before I do that.

The link is http://knives.mutantdiscovery.com/slipjoint1.html

If there are any master slipjoint folder makers that know of a better way to do things or can provide some better input it would be great to get your feedback too.
