Picked up a mini Persian last week, and I am quite amazed with it. I've never had a sharper folder before, and the overall quality is amazing. Though, there is one discerning feauture, it's from Japan? I thought spyderco was an american company? Are all spyderco's from Japan or just a select few?

Yes, your C105BMP Ed Shempp Persian 75 mm is made in Japan. Spyderco uses different locations for their knife-production besides their own plant in Golden/Colorado.

whats not from japan is from colorado...
... or from Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan and China for the Byrd-line. And let me ask "Why not?" I see Sal Glesser as a man who knows what to do best.

Enjoy your new knife, balisong, good choice. Spyderco manufactures knives in various countries, to take advantage of different steels, labor costs, etc. Depending on the knife, it may be manufactured in the US, Japan, Italy or China. What remains constant is the excellent quality and value that a Spyderco represents.

Thanks for letting me know guys. I thought that was the case. There is no doubt about it that the quality is top notch. And I plan on getting a few more spyderco folders in the future. I'll probably try the Volpe and the Kriss next.

To save you any handling shock, the Volpe is made in Italy and the Kriss in Japan... ;) :D

congrats on the persian. try finding yourself the bigger persian, even though they look alike it feels alot different in your hand. any chance you still have a connection for another szabofly. i have been looking for one of those for awhile.

Sorry, no chance what-so-ever. I got lucky when I found it, so I jumped on the deal. There pretty damn hard to find. Good luck with it though.

I bought a Atlantic Salt since I live by the ocean and needed a good rust proof boat knife and was impressed with the quality and the fit and finish of the knife. So I bought an Assist I and a Spyderfly. :D

I look forward to seeing more good stuff from the Spyderco folks.

Totally bitten myself.
I have a Caly 3 CF/ZDP and a Military CF/BG-42 on the way.
Also looking to add a Manix and maybe the new T Mag.
Are there any new versions to the Manix line (different handles, blades, etc.) coming out?
