First Spyderco knife - Gayle Bradley?

GB was my first Spyderco, if you don't count the Military I found in the river and sold.

It was a good choice.

Wow great! Thank you for those links. Excellent information. I'm definitely going to get one. Just have to find one.

I think you will be very happy with the GB. I've always thought it was an odd looking knife but the design is unbelievable effective. Hard to explain but this knife just begs to be worked and is good at it. I really think it's one of Spyderco's best knives.

Coming from using BM mini afck 812hs everyday for the last ~15 years, and trying several models/brands/steels for the last 6 months, the GB has become my new every day carry/use knife, and I do use it everyday.
The only changes I would make - shorten it 1/2 inch, and a slightly more acute tip.
I'm thinking of doing this myself.

I think the Gayle Bradley is a beautiful knife and one of the best values, period, in the knife world. However, I've sold all duplicates I had of the knife and gifted the one that I slightly used to a friend that would really appreciate it.

Several months ago I said to myself if I sold off every Spyderco and only kept one, it'd be a GB. Funny how things change. It is beautiful and refined with excellent steel and an excellent grind that cuts amazingly with acute edge angles and holds them well. It's buttery smooth, and nothing but the utmost of quality all the way around.

But as all our tastes change, we figure out what does and doesn't work for us. Even after getting a deep carry clip for it, I felt it carried too thick in pocket for me and that it was too bulky for an EDC. If I were to use it as a work knife, I wasn't a fan of the proud liners and carbon fiber smoothness. I like the grippiness of G10. To be honest, I don't care for carbon fiber on anything now with maybe exception of small gent's folders. The ergos never really worked for me, and the lock release was always a pain (literally). I also sweat a good bit and am in a very humid climate, and the blade needs a little care and attention to avoid rust issues.

So in short, it just didn't have a place for me and as far as using and carrying the knife rather than the looks, I prefer the PM2.

I'm Still stuck debating between the two. I feel like the overall solid build of the GB will hold up better over time compared to the PM2, yet there is this immense love for the PM2 that I read about nearly everywhere. And just moments ago I stumbled across a great deal for a PM2 new in box. So I may end up getting both. Guest5160 you may be right, it may be a new addiction.

Ah what an awesome photo. Not helping my wallet! As I went ahead and bought the PM2. Does anyone happen to have a GB they'd like to sell? The price on Amazon is very tempting but I would prefer to go through this forum.

Also, I just spotted the Spyderco stretch in VG10. Any comparison to the GB or does the Bradley just blow it out of the water?
