hey all, jsut got back form wal mart, was looking to pick up a kershaw skyline, but i saw this native for just $20 and couldnt pass it up. s30v steel for $20 from a reputable company? hell yes!

my only complaint is some horizontal play, but i assume its because of the pinned construction?

Congrats on your new Spydie! The Native was my first Spyderco knife and to this day, is one of my favorites. If the horizontal play is troublesome, you can go for an exchange.

Great deal you got! I need to go check my local Wally World. I'd turn one into a beater.

thanks. APF, the play is not troublesome really, i guess i could always send it to spyderco if i felt like it.

im really liking it so far, i used it to break down a box and it sliced through real nice. im not sure how i like the spyderhole yet though, im used to thumbstuds and flippers.

Once you get used to the hole, you will find that it is almost as fast as a flipper and has the advantage of not catching on the material you cut. This allows you to use the entire edge for cutting and also won't interfere with sharpening. The 'flippers' are nice though. :)

Truth be told, I like them all.

i havent gotten much chance to play around with it, but after abotu 100 openings the hole feels a bit more natural. i still love my kershaws, but it looks like they might get some company from spyderco in the future.

Hello, I tired emailing you but seems it did not go threw. Could you please email me at crc7809@aol. Thank you!

COngrats bob. It wont be your last for sure. I myself am a spyderco convert from Kershaw (not that I dont slip a Leek in my pocket every once in a while.)

Vertical bladeplay is somewhat usual on Lockbacks. It's really nothing to worry about, some say the movement is the blade locking up even stronger.

i agree with all... it wont be your last spyderco purchase... not a bad deal on that steel either... i wouldnt worry about vertical play in the blade either... some of my spydies without liners do that as well... that lock up should be fine though...esp for that price!!

this definatley will not be my last spyderco purchase. The blade play actually doesnt bother me at all now, its a solid knife, and it slices like a champ. i wount go the route of jake and convert from kershaw, but i will pursue both brands form now on it seems.

maybe i should get a spyker.

Saw a Spyker floating around the exchange not to long ago.

The play is a product of the pinned construction. Unfortunately. If it bothers, send it in, or tap (GENTLY!) with a hammer on one side of the pivot with the other side on a hard surface.

I was actually thinking of peening the pin, I'm glad it is a feasible option.
